The Artist currently known as Laura White, lives and works in the mythical wonderland that is Arcata, California.
Hailing originally from middle-of-nowhere Missouri, she passed through Boston and Los Angeles before settling in a tiny hippy-infested city by the sea. Her release date from Humboldt County has not yet been scheduled. She has been firmly established behind the Redwood Curtain since 2005, with no plans to give up her title “The Queen of Gravy” anytime soon.
In her home studio, she creates luminous oil paintings. Dreamlike images, saturated in wild colors greet the viewer’s eye. Inspiration comes from all sides: music, the natural world, pleasure and joy of all kinds and sticking it to the man are foremost in the ever-unfolding adventure that is her life.
Despite being a student of life, she nontheless earned her Bachelora’s Degree in Studio Art with Honors at Humboldt State University in 2008, with a minor in Kicking Ass & Taking Names.
Her work has been displayed in over 10 solo and group shows in Humboldt County, including the 2008 Senior Exhibition at Humboldt State University. Currently, her work can be found at Arcata School of Massage, The Speakeasy and Los Bagels in Eureka. Show are coming in the New Year at Redwood Curtain Brewery, Far North Climbing Gym and Cafe Brio in Arcata.
